I just reproduced the scenario and it gives me the output as expected. I played a little bit with the telephone number in AD to reproduce your issue, resulting in a number that fails to normalize it was originaly set in E format. When you run the Update-CaAdressbook cmdlet in Lync powershell you'll find a warning in the lync server eventlog stating: One or more phone numbers failed to normalize.

One or more phone number attributes in Active Directory contained text that could not be normalized.

Refer to the documentation for a description of the built-in generic normalization rules. Use the ABServer -dumpRules command to see all the rules that Address Book Server is currently configured with. I don't get any warning messages in the log when I run the Update-CsAddressBook cmdlet. Also, when I forward calls to the manually entered number, I do get output in the LyncLogger Tool with the OutboundRouting Level set to All. There are no messages in the output only Traces I assume because the call forward works.

Again, however, when I try to forward to my mobile number as entered in the Phones options of the Lync client the log is empty - as if it isn't even trying to dial out. I currently don't have phone numbers entered for any of our users in AD. Is it strictly required that the phone numbers be entered there?

When they exist in AD, they will be prepopulated towards lync by the addressbook part. Can you confirm you typed the mobile number yourrself in the Lync client? And does it fail on forward as well as simultaneous ring?

Also, is your Lync client updated with the latest service packs last one from last week, bringing it to release 4. I'm just trying to get a clear picture on your environment to see if i can reproduce it for you.

Well it doesn't make much sense to me why this changed things, but after upgrading my Lync client to the latest release, Call Forwarding and simultaneous ring are working with the number entered in the Mobile field of the Lync client.
